Sigh

So okay, that deadline is blown.
Completely.
Gah.

I don't know if it's a comfort or a sadness that pretty much everyone (other than wildly-optimistic me) knew this would happen.
Probably a little of both.

Yes, I've not been feeling well (there's this nagging stomach issue that's been hanging around for weeks), so that's been dragging me down, and I had to go see the doctor (twice) about that, and it hurt to eat, and it also hurt to not eat, but it only hurt a little, so that's a poor excuse.
I basically just need to keep working on getting into writing mode and staying there, even when a story is giving me trouble.
Because this is just phrasing, you know? I DO like the chapter I have in mind, I think there are some great beats in there, and it ties up several threads very nicely, while setting the stage for the rest of what will likely be a huge, sprawling beast of a tale.
It's just that I don't like THIS sentence, and I'm not quite as thrilled with THAT bit, either, even though it's sort of neat, in its own special way....
It's way too easy to get frustrated and get up and go read depressing political stories for three hours, after which I feel like the world is crazy and that I don't want to live here any more.

So, anywaaaaaaaaay....
Chapter ten is posted to AO3 (hopefully the mods will stop sending me mail about linking to Patreon, now that I've taken out all the old links and started pointing people here instead).

One of the cats poked me in the eye with his paw yesterday, and now my eye is swollen and icky.
yay.

And now I'll go back to writing on that chapter, because no matter what else is going on, Dawn is still adorable, and her story will continue.

  1. Don't be too hard on yourself. Your a damned good author who can write damned good stories. The fact that the Dawn story now has up to 55 recommendations and over 58K hits over on TtH is testament to that. You are going to finish it, maybe not when you wanted to, but I guarantee you that you will be able to finish it. I and anyone else that has ever read your stories are behind you 100%, and we know your going to put out an excellent chapter in the end.

But if you do have medical problems, please, see your doctor and get yourself checked out and taken care of. The story is good, but your health and well being are the most important.

So rest, get better, and I guarantee you, your story will turn out perfectly.

  2. Thank you, sir.
It still feels completely surreal that people I've never met want to read my stuff, and take time out of their day to give me pep talks (^_^)

My stomach issue SEEMS to be a side effect of a medication I've been taking for a couple of years, to help with headaches. I stopped that one a couple of weeks ago, and the stomach thing has eased up almost completely (although, not surprisingly, my headaches staged a comeback).
So that seems to be under control.
But yep, don't worry, I am all about trying to stay healthy.
(I don't want to follow Becuzitswrong's example; I have waaaaaaay too much writing to do)
(That still makes me sad, whenever I think about it....)

    Anyway, thanks.
